Yoga Ocean will meet you where you are. Heather’s transformative yoga journey over the past five years has blossomed into a rich tapestry of healing practices. She is a trauma-informed teacher of Vinyasa and Yin Yoga, a musician offering the alchemy of sound with her voice and instruments to soothe, uplift and heal.
Enhancing diverse yoga styles with Myofascial Release, and Qi Gong, her thoughtfully crafted classes blend ancient wisdom with modern insight, intertwining science, philosophy, and a cosmic perspective to create grounded yet expansive experiences.
Fueled by a passion for holistic well-being, she recently trained in Zenthai Shiatsu Massage and empowers others through breathwork, yoga asana, meditative movement, somatic and sensory awareness, fostering peace, presence, and fulfilment.
Tamsyn has been practicing yoga and the Healing Arts for over 20 years and in 2019 embarked on her teaching journey. and is now a Level 2 Yoga Teacher, trained in Vinyasa, Yin, Pre/Postnatal yoga, and Myofascial Release.
Her practise is rooted in a soft reverence for the body’s innate intelligence, weaving together movement, stillness and deep awareness. Beyond the mat, her healing practice extends into her work as a Master Reiki practitioner and Sound Healer, where energy, vibration, and intention meet. Her classes are an immersive, sensory journey, an invitation to slow down and listen to the messages the body has to offer, with a deep belief that our body speaks to us through the language of sensation.
Through fluid movement, stillness, and breath, she creates a space that feels both expansive and intimate. Each session is beautifully grounding, guiding you back home to your body, where layers can soften, and something new can quietly emerge. In this space, there is an opportunity not just to move, but to rediscover and become deeply connected to your true nature.
Joanna’s journey into yoga and spirituality has been shaped by a lifelong connection to movement and stillness in nature, and the quiet wisdom that arrives when we pay attention. Joanna feels most at home in the solitude and beauty of remote areas; places where quiet and effort coexist and the mind has space to soften. It is in these places that she notices a different kind of guidance: the gentle coincidences, perfectly timed encounters, and unexpected openings.
Her path led her naturally toward yoga. Its quiet spaciousness mirrors the calm she experiences in nature, and its steady, supportive depth helps her move through life’s changes with greater ease. She teaches with the understanding that meaningful shifts often begin in stillness and intention, and that the body, when cared for gently, moves toward balance on its own. Through presence and the simple act of pausing, yoga offers a space to settle the mind and create openness for whatever growth may follow.

NEW IN APRIL AT YOGA OCEAN
FOR those new to Yoga, from absolute beginners to those already practising, or for those returning from injury or illness, GENTLE YOGA on Tuesday evenings at 5.30 pm is flowing super well. It is wonderful to see more practised Yogis utilising this class when feeling to move more slowly, at a gentler pace, with an emphasis on the basics of great posture, breath, and technique. It is also beautiful to see beginners and those returning after many years’ absence, progressing so well in only a few weeks. Keeping you safe as we rejuvenate body, mind, and spirit
VINYASA will return in May with an idea to open Saturday mornings with BOOKINGS TAKEN to ensure 4 or more participants. 9am - 10.15 am.

LIVING WELL PROGRAM
YOGA OCEAN has been delighted to be involved with the 'Living Well ' program run by the Devonport City Council, and we are planning similar sessions for Summer commencing ~ Mid February

Wednesday Mornings 11 am - 12. 10 pm for 10 weeks.
All equipment is supplied. BYO water bottle. Wear comfy clothing and arrive 15 minutes before to allow time for waiver signing, orientation & settling in.

An opportunity to learn the most healthy, life-affirming and well-being-enhancing way to Breathe.
Our contemporary lifestyle and environmental factors have slowly eroded the natural human ‘Art of Breathing’. In the last century, our breathing rate has increased and is at times almost double the rate at which optimal gas exchange and lung function are supported.
This Course will help you unlearn habitual mouth breathing and slow your breathing rate, enhancing tolerance to Carbon Dioxide, a widely misunderstood yet essential component of natural gas exchange and oxygenation of tissues.
We will learn practical exercises and strategies to return Nasal Breathing and slower, lower, deeper breath … breathing ‘less’ to experience ‘more’.
These methods have been shown through primary research to correct the issues that lead to snoring, sleep apnoea, blocked nose, post-nasal drip, wheezing and asthma symptoms, halitosis, insomnia, anxiety and tension
This Course provides a progressive framework for retraining breathing mechanics, increasing carbon dioxide tolerance , and restoring nervous system balance. Drawing on modern science, functional breathing methods, and experiential stress adaptation practises, participants learn to embody efficient, resilient breathing in daily life and under challenge.

One of the main responsibilities and intentions in my journeying was to connect with the sentience of water on every continent and the oceans in between, from lakes, rivers, waterfalls, ice sheets, mountain streams, and snowflakes to dewdrops.
